Hidemi Takahashi is an associate professor in the Dept. of Area Studies at the University of Tokyo. He is currently also a visiting professor at the Yale MacMillan Center. Takahashi specializes in, and has published widely on, the transmission of Greek scientific knowledge into Syriac. His publications include two monographs Aristotelian Meteorology in Syriac: Barhebraeus, Butyrum sapientiae, Books of Mineralogy and Meteorology published by Brill in 2004, and Barhebraeus: A Bio-Bibliography (Gorgias Press, 2005), as well as numerous journal articles, and translations of Latin texts into Japanese and English.
