Six new faculty panelists
Lunchtime Panel Discussion with New Faculty
Abstract:
CMRS announces the second of its three colloquia for fall 2009. These colloquia serve the graduate interdisciplinary certificate, but all interested students and faculty are invited to attend. Six new area faculty (weblinks below) will be joining us for lunch in 326 Allen Building, from noon until 2:00 on Thursday, 8 October. Each of them will have a few words to say about their research, the courses they plan to teach, and the fields and topics of study in which they will supervise students. Students still engaged in course work or looking for committee members will have the chance to chat with them informally before perhaps working with them; graduate students about to embark on the job market may be able to draw on their recent experience. Please do come out to welcome them to the area. The invited guests include the following:

Philip Stern (History, Duke) http://fds.duke.edu/db/aas/history/faculty/ps91

Jehangir Malegam (History, Duke) works on ideas about peace in the eleventh and twelfth century, among other things. http://fds.duke.edu/db/aas/history/faculty/jm245
